The company was formed in 1964 and incorporated in 1967 by Quentin L. Hampton, who served as President until 1985 when he retired. Richard W. Fernandez became President and took the company into the next millennium. Under Rick's direction and guidance, the company grew to over 35 employees. Rick retired in 2005, but stayed with the company as a Director. Mark Hampton took over the helm in 2005 after Rick's retirement. Mark is now guiding the firm into the next generation. Brad Blais and David King serve as Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer, respectively, of the corporation and are the company's future. With their guidance Quentin L. Hampton Associates will continue to grow to serve our clients to the best of our ability.

Cambridge Drainage Basin Improvements Phase I and II

After significant flooding occurred during the tropical storms in 2004, the City of Port Orange retained the services of QLH to study the 700-acre Cambridge Canal basin and recommend improvements. The study recommended a basin-wide approach to solving the problem by creating two additional outfalls, one in the north and one in the south part of the basin. Two large wet detention ponds and a stormwater pump station were constructed to help offset/mitigate for increase discharge rates during extreme events. The total cost of the basin-wide project is over $10 million and was constructed by the end of the 2007 tropical storm season. The City obtained grant funds through FEMA, SJRWMD and FDEP to help offset costs. The remainder of the project was funded with State Revolving Fund Loans.
